Start by Taking Stock…
We meet with executives and senior managers to define the behaviors expected of managers. The result of this phase is a one-page document that paints a picture of what “good” managers in your organization actually do. It is then the foundation for customizing the workshops.
…Customize the Training…
While series content exists from previous deliveries of the workshop, each series runs differently depending on the issues uncovered in the first phase. The tools change to reflect organizational culture, and the emphasis changes depending on need. This is where our business experience shines. There is nothing delivered “off-the-shelf.”
…Deliver
- 15+ participants attend five to seven 4-hour workshops over a five to six month period (one every 3-4 weeks).
- Each workshop introduces new tools and provides a chance to discuss successes/challenges from the prior workshop.
- Instruction is highly interactive, opens a dialog between the participants, and addresses real world issues.
- Learning is applied in between workshops with participants instructed to use the Practical Leader tools and keep notes.
- “Homework” is relevant and challenging, without overextending the tight schedules of busy managers.
- A participant “subgroup” meets at least once between workshops. During this meeting the managers are given a few key questions to informally discuss the implementation of the tools.
- We have a lot of fun while working very hard.
